Without Health Insurance Coverage, My Husband Would Not Be Alive Today

In August of 2012, he awakened complaining of shortness of breath. An unscheduled visit to our Primary Physician revealed Congestive Heart Failure- a very weakened heart, failing due to Atrial Fibrillation.

He was rushed immediately to the hospital, where a team of cardiologists determined a treatment of medicine to strengthen the heart which needed to begin immediately. In addition a LifeVest Wearable Defibrillator was necessary to monitor his heart and administer life-saving jolts to the heart if needed, to be worn once back at home on a 24 hour basis.

In October of 2012, the LifeVest did its job and kept his heart beating until paramedics arrived and rushed him back to the hospital. While in intensive care, he was put in a coma and we were told he would need an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) implanted in his chest or he would probably not survive.

He is alive today because of all the measures that were taken, and still are taken with medication necessary to maintain his health. Without health insurance coverage, we would never have been able to afford any of the doctors, hospital stays, devices, procedures and medications etc. necessary to save his life.
